Jorge G. Costa, MFA, is a visual artist and Adjunct Professor at Manchester Community College, Springfield College, and Springfield Technical Community College. His interdisciplinary practice investigates the relationships between material, ecology, and transformation through a range of media, exploring themes related to biomimetic design, microbiology, bio-architecture, climate change, and the Anthropocene. His recent work engages with ideas of regeneration, interdependence, and the complex relationships between human and nonhuman systems, often incorporating processes of experimentation, reuse, and material exploration.

Born in Angola and raised between Portugal and the United States, Costa’s artistic perspective has been shaped by experiences of migration, cultural displacement, and questions of belonging. He studied Fine Arts and Philosophy at the University of Hartford, where he earned his MFA in 1999, and has since developed a parallel career as an educator and artist. Over the past 27 years, he has taught a wide range of studio art and art history courses at institutions including the University of Hartford, Springfield College, Westfield State University, Bay Path University, Springfield Technical Community College, Manchester Community College, Asnuntuck Community College, and the Springfield Museum of Fine Arts.
